Yes, Color Can Torment Your Soul. Happy New Year!!!
|
The New Year is almost upon us you and if you are like me even just a little, you're ready for 2019 to close as you throw rose petals in front of you, welcoming 2020.
It's been a productive fall and winter in terms of painting for me and i will be debuting the work over the next few weeks but I wanted to share this first.
For the first time in nearly 2 years I crossed a state line, two of them in fact, to see the Monet Exhibition at the Denver Art Museum. WORTH IT!!! Below is a trailer for the most comprehensive Monet exhibition in over two decades in the U.S., 120 works of art.

The work is stunning, fresh and extremely accessible. The older he became the more ethereal his work became and he was quoted as saying, "Color is my daylong obsession, joy and torment." He really was a god.
The 'Water-Lilies' painting from 1914-15 was one of my favorites from the show. Uber romantic with loose outlines of lily pads and shapes beginning to dissolve, these Water-Lilies were painted before he went more atmospheric and tonal.
Another of my favorites from the show is 'The Houses in the Snow' from when he painted in Norway. I had no idea he went to Norway!
If you can get to this show I know you'll love it - it's up until the first week of February 2020.
Happy New Year y'all.
Love, Randine
