The Honor of Being Noticed

Artists are no different from any other group of people.  I know this because I believe just about everyone born IS an artist but they haven't tapped into it or they're not interested in creating or in art itself.

But the people who MUST create do tend to be the most generous, hard working, interesting, fun people on our small blue planet.   One of those artists is Shelley Whiting of Glendale, Arizona who created a blog last year (arizonaartistaday2.com) that highlights an Arizona artist every day and a few months ago she contacted me and asked if I would be interested in being one of her 'days'.  Uh, YES please!

I have never met Shelley, never even saw her blog but somehow she found me and I felt the honor of being noticed.  I felt the community of artists which is crucial in a profession of loneliness.  Not a sad loneliness but to make good work it's me and my dog in the studio and that's how it is for most creative folks.  Being part of Shelley's blog has linked me to hundreds of Arizona artists all over the state and one of these days I will drive a couple hours north to meet her and thank her.
