Back on Halloween of 2014 I was walking my geriatric Chow/Lab down our road - it was dusk and there were these two enormous orange clouds filling up the eastern sky over the Catalina mountains here in Tucson. I had never seen anything even remotely like it before. I ran us back to the house, grabbed the camera (lambasting myself for not always carrying it) and got the pic which I used to paint this. Well, the first version of this. I just couldn’t let it be, I went and ruined the painting and then it looked like a horror show.
I was so irked with myself that i set it in the 'I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOU FOR AWHILE' pile and finally came back to it this year. And i like it!
